Yoichi is a pleasant lightly peaty single malt whisky, elegant to drink straight. Yoichi was the first distillery founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934. The choice of location and construction of the buildings comes from the Scottish experience of the young distiller.

During preparation, the malted barley is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, found only on the island of Islay, gives Laphroaig its particularly rich flavor.
Those enjoying the 10 year old Laphroaig will first notice the bold, smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness. This full-bodied variation is the foundation of all Laphroaig expressions and has a lingering finish.
In 2019 this whisky was also named best Scotch Single Malt of at least 10 years by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.
